Harry Kane is showing exactly why he’s one of the world’s best strikers with a record-breaking start to life with Bayern Munich.
The striker only arrived in Bavaria over the summer but has enjoyed a glorious few months with a staggering 21 goals already scored in all competitions.
Those efforts have come in just 16 appearances for Bayern, giving him a strike rate of 1.31 goals per game in all competitions.
In the Bundesliga, Kane’s strike rate is even more impressive after scoring 17 times in 11 matches, giving him an average goals per game record of 1.55.
The England striker is now 30 years of age and so the chances of him catching Gerd Muller in the Bundesliga’s all-time top scorer’s list is minimal, but had he moved to Germany earlier, the record may already have been wrapped up.
Muller, a German football legend, scored 365 in 427 German top flight matches, giving him a 0.85 goals per game compared to Kane’s 1.55 goals per game.
With Kane scoring 1.55 per game at Bayern, his tally could have been enormous based on the amount of games that he played for Tottenham in his career.
The England striker is still 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s tally of 260 as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, but given that he’s now loving life in Germany, it remains to be seen if he’ll have the time and opportunity to surpass the Newcastle legend.
But Kane’s impressive start to life in Germany is about much more than what he could have achieved.
Kane is the first player to reach 17 Bundesliga goals in just 11 league fixtures.
